Great Family Visit

There were a couple conditions that could have spoiled our day yesterday, but we didn't let either one deter us from enjoying the day with our grand kids and Kristine. The first condition was the relentless rain. It rained practically the entire day and night and more of the same is forecast. The second was a miscalculation that I made on the distance from our campground to Kristine's home in Spanaway. It turned out to be 60 miles as we drove back to the fifth wheel to spend our afternoon. It was a wonderful time.

Our grand kids haven't seen much of us since we haven't been to this area in quite some time. In fact, the small kids didn't even remember us, but Harmony did. The oldest boy is Aerin, and he loves to play video games on the smartphones:

Then there is Harmony, shown here playing with her bracelet/beading set that we bought for her:

and then Gabe, the youngest, who also is infatuated with the smartphone games, but we caught him here between games:

It was a wonderful visit as the boys enjoyed their video games and also the little toy cars we bought for them. Below is a group shot with Grandma, while the boys are preoccupied with their video games:

It's amazing to us how the small boys are already proficient in the use of the smartphones. They can locate the games on the phones by themselves and play them without any help at all.

Harmony has a computer at home and asked if she could use mine to watch the latest videos of her favorite star - Justin Bieber, of course:

Here is one last shot of Aerin:

We left for the long trip back to their home at around 5:30. While driving out of the campground, we stopped to let these deer cross:

The campground has been a disappointment to us. It is the very first preserve in the Thousand Trails portfolio of preserves, and is archaic and very wooded. There is no sewer hookup so we have to conserve our water use so that we don't fill the tanks and the electric is only 30 amp service which forces us to watch how we use our appliances. The fact that it is so far from Kristine's home has us looking at options to move to a campground that is closer to them. The money we would spend for the new campground would most likely be less than the gas we use to commute from our present location. We will figure that out this morning. The problem is complicated by the fact we have a reservation at the La Conner preserve for Monday which we will probably delay until next Monday so that we can spend another weekend with the grandkids. It will be difficult to see them during the week as a result of schools and work that keep Kristine busy the whole time. John, Kristine's boyfriend and father of the boys, also works long hours and it is tough to get together with all of them at the same time, except for weekends.

We will probably move our fifth wheel to a more convenient location this morning and then visit again with Kristine and her family later today. Stay tuned...
