Slower Pace Day

After the long day on Thursday, we stayed close to home and caught up a little on rest. We had a visit from Karen and George and decided to go the Nitely Rodeo last night. Before that, it was decided that we go to a pizza place in town that is suppose to have great pizza, and then to the Concert in the Park before going to the Rodeo.

Just as we were ready to go to dinner, a storm blew through and we ended up helping George put up their awning while the storm hit its peak. We thought at that time that the concert and rodeo might be in jeopardy. Not so. The storms we get here are very brief and by the time we finished dinner the skies were clear and blue again. The pizza was great and we went on to the Concert in the Park.

The band was very entertaining as you can see from these shots:
We never did get their name.

We left the concert at 7:30 to get to the Rodeo before it started. It was only about a 5 minute drive from the park, so we got there in plenty of time. I forgot to mention that earlier in the day Josie and I stopped at the Rodeo office to see if I could get a replacement season pass card that I lost on the rafting trip a couple weeks ago. They gave me a replacement - for $5. Still not a bad deal for unlimited trips to the Rodeo until the end of August. I took a few pictures but since I've already posted pictures of the Rodeo before, I only included these of the bull riding and calf roping competition:

One of the most entertaining parts was of the kids chasing 3 calves around the arena, trying to capture the ribbons that were tied on the tails of the calves for prizes:

The competion in last nights Rodeo didn't seem as good as the previous occasions we went. Of course, the last time we went it was the Stampede where the cowboys were all from the Pro circuit. Anyway, the night was fun and we topped it off with dessert at McDonald's. We all had coupons for a "buy one get one free" Sundae that we got at the County Fair last week. So, for just $1, we had 4 Sundae's.

It's laundry day today and the start of another work week - UGH! The (our) weekend's just fly by too fast...
