Exercising the Truck and Sunflowers

After putting the final touches on the sink repair, we decided to take a short drive in the country to give the truck some running time. I like to take it out every week or two just to keep the battery charged and make sure everything is still OK. The trip we took was to a small town called Byron - it only has a population of 550 people - and was just a short distance east of Powell where we went to the Fair last week. We were surprised to see fields and fields of sunflowers growing in that area. It reminded us of the tulip fields we used to see in Skagit Valley, WA, during the tulip festival every year. We took some photos of these fields, a couple of which are below:
We also got a close up of this one:

The fields were beautiiful and the only difference between these and the fields of tulips in WA were the colors - these were, of course, all yellow. Check out this link (Wyoming Sunflowers) which describes the growing of these sunflowers in this area and the fact that they will be harvested in late September or early October.

As you can see from the pictures above, the clouds went away and we had another gorgeous day, weather wise. It was in the mid 80's yesterday and our next to last day of work this week went according to expectations - very busy. We always look forward to this day - our last work day for the week - so we can plan some fun places to go in the next two days. I would like to go to Yellowstone again - not only because it is always fun, but to replace my other two lost cards from there. This morning will be a relaxing morning before heading out to work, so until tomorrow...
