Off to Cody, Wyoming and More

We are heading to the Buffalo Bill Village Resort in Cody, Wyoming on Tuesday, June 8. Cody is a town of 10,000+ people and is less than 1 hour east of Yellowstone National Park. This will be a little different from the work we have been used to doing. Josie will be working in the 4800 sq ft "high end" gift store at the complex and I will be working the front desk. The village has 83 rustic cabins that are used for the hotel and I will be doing reservations, checkins, checkouts, etc. while Josie will be working the sales in the gift shop. With the close proximity to Yellowstone, we will have a lot of time to explore that Park and all the surrounding attractions in that part of the country. Both of us will be working a 5 day week, and have the same 2 days off. We are looking forward to the experience and just hope it is a better fit for us, management wise.

I never did connect with Terry yesterday so we had to inform Mary when she came on duty at 1 PM. Actually, I was off by then and Josie informed her of our decision to leave. It was very awkward, to say the least, since she and Jim were the only reason we were leaving. She was shocked and disappointed. When Josie told her that we were having a difficult time working for Jim, she said "I have to live with him". Her comment was "Damn, just when I had somebody I could trust". We are sorry that we have to leave some other nice workers behind, but they certainly understand and were shocked, but not surprised, as there has been a long line of workers departing because of their management style. We are also sorry that it spoils a nice reunion with part of our family in August. We were looking forward to spending a week with George, Cheryl and David and his family at the park and on the beach. They can still use the reservation for themselves, but it certainly won't be the same. That was one of the reasons we hung on as long as we could.

The other major development yesterday was that we already have another job lined up for when we leave Cody in early October. We will be heading to Campbellsville, KY, to begin working at the Amazon.com warehouse there. Campbellsville is centrally located between Louisville, Bowling Green, Lexington and not too far from Nashville, so we are looking forward to that experience beginning on October 24 and ending on December 23. That will be a labor intensive job for excellent money and we feel that for a couple months, we can handle it. We will both be working in the Receiving department and will be opening packages, sorting and scanning them for the warehouse and putting them on carts for placement in bins within the warehouse. That job also includes a full hookup site at our choice of any of five area campgrounds. We got the tip for this job from our friends that are still working at the 49er Ranch in Columbia, CA, and they are also going to work there during the same period. It will be nice to see them again.

We are getting ready to leave for Lakewood, WA to visit our family there. The plan is to stay in a local hotel tonight and head back tomorrow to begin getting things ready for our Tuesday departure. It is an exciting time...
