The construction - or re-paving - on Carefree Highway has ended - at least for now. They have completed the re-paving of the westbound lane on the highway from I-17 all the way to the New River turn off just down the road from us. I'm sure we will go through the same mass delays once they begin the project on the eastbound lanes.
Josie had a short day yesterday and was home by about 2:30. We took a drive to the Wittman area, towards Wickenburg, to check out the blooming cactus on the desert and to visit a place we haven't been to in many years - The Pottery Place. We purchased some nice desert and western pieces for our house in Sun City Grand and wanted to check out the inventory for our new house. It hasn't changed much:
except that they were having a sale of 20% off everything for their moving sale. They are moving closer to Surprise to a much larger area that is only about 1/4 mile south of the existing location. Many years ago we talked to the owners of this store and they told us how, each summer, they travel to Mexico to purchase their inventory and bring it back to this location. They are obviously doing well with that plan. We didn't buy anything yesterday, but will return at some point after we get into our home.
Our meeting at the new house is this morning at 8 AM with the Field Manager to do our pre-drywall orientation. Everything is done inside and is ready for the final stages of construction. That includes the drywall, roofing and siding. We are about 8 weeks away from closing which will be here before we know it. Josie is off today, and I go to work at 3:30 at Sam's Club and work until 9 PM. It should be a good day but there is some rain in the forecast which we hope holds off for most of the day...
