The annual bass fishing contest is in full swing this weekend. There are boats everywhere, people everywhere and noise everywhere. We had forgotten about the impact this event has on the resort for the weekend it is being held. I was home all day as Josie worked, and I can tell you, it was non-stop noise from ATV's that people bring into the resort - not to ride off-road as they are intended, but to drive them as golf carts around the resort. Most of them need mufflers, and they all need common sense drivers. I could hardly concentrate on my book that I was reading because of the noise. I did take a walk at midday and got a couple pictures. The first is of the area where all the carnival-like activity is taking place:
This next one is of the south ramp where boats were lined up - probably the whole day - to launch. In addition to all of the bass boats, there were, of course, pleasure boats. This last shot shows the activity at the ramp along with a couple bass fishing boats on the water near the dam:
As mentioned earlier, there is a $10K first prize for the largest bass caught this weekend. There is a total of $50K in prizes which includes hourly weigh-in prizes during the Fri-Sun tournament.
Josie is off today and we are going to go to Wickenburg to check out a western store that we saw on the Arizona Highways TV show last night. They have all kinds of apparel, but also have western furniture and décor in this 24,000 square foot store that we want to see. While we are there, we will take a look at the new Trilogy at Wickenburg Ranch homes that we had a brief interest in before we contracted for our new house in Peoria. It should be a fun day - and a hot one, with temperatures expected to reach 90 degrees for the first time this year...
