It was drizzly and dreary all day yesterday and we heard on the news after work that a big storm was expected to roll in last night. It rolled in all right. From the time we went to bed at around 9:30 PM until 6:30 this morning, we've had over 1.25" of rain and the wind has been relentless. With a 57 degree temperature, it doesn't seem like June at all. The winds are expected to gust to 55 MPH during the storm and the rain will last most of the day today.
A rig pulled in last night at about 8:30 PM and tried to park his motor home - about 45 feet worth - into one of our pull-thru spaces and he ran over the sewer connection and hit the electric post before backing out and trying a different space. We have a policy that when anybody checks into the resort that we go out and help them get situated in their assigned space. Of course, at 8:30 PM nobody was on duty and the late arrivals have to fend for themselves. The guy got himself into another space but has left already this morning. We hope that, if he didn't have a reservation, he filled out one of our late arrival envelopes and put his cash in it. Otherwise, we will be faced with a deadbeat camper that created some damage and we will have no way to contact him. I guess it happens.
We are very close to coming to an agreement with another park. No mention will be made of it yet until we complete the agreement - it is not in South Dakota, but in an area that we had hoped to visit at some time in the near future. It would be for more money and it will be a little different from the work we've been doing the last year. The plan is to call Terry, the VP of Operations, in Eugene this morning and explain the situation to him. Based on what we've been told about the revolving door here with workers because of the local management, he will not be totally surprised. Look for an update tomorrow...
