Computer Problems at Work

We had a surprise waiting for us when we arrived at work yesterday. The computer system that we use for the Visitor Center business was "fried" on late Sunday night by water that somehow got into the main processor. The staff spent the entire day on Monday handling the store business by performing manual transactions. The company IT Tech spent all of Monday and most of yesterday getting the system rebuilt and rebooted so that we could have the use of one register during the day yesterday. We are still without the use of one of our two system registers and that will have to be replaced entirely. I worked the entire day handling the one operational register while the rest of the staff entered the manual transactions into the system from the previous days' business. Josie handled the inventory stocking and other business during the day. We were both super tired at the end of the day.

It looks like a similar day in store for us today as the manual transactions are still not totally entered into the system and we will operate again with a single register. We are suppose to be off these two days - yesterday and today - but, as luck would have it, we are taking the place of one other staff member these two days while she goes to her sister's college graduation. We are really looking forward to our five days off starting this Saturday...
