Except for about an hour of ecall duty that is left, we are done with this temporary assignment at El Cajon. We thought we might have had our first ecall here last night when at 8:45 the pager went off. We were getting undressed and ready for bed so we scrambled to get dressed and go back to the office to find out where the emergency was. It turned out that one of the residents forgot to take her front door key and she was locked out of the building with her son. The ecall alarm is tied into the phone outside in the event somebody needs to get in after hours. Thanks a lot for that.
We always seem to learn some new angles to run a community when we spend time here. As long as we can take some positive information from each of these different community experiences we feel we will be well prepared in the event that we ever get our own community to run. We are still looking at that change with mixed feelings if it ever presents itself. On the one hand, we just want to stay as co-managers and not have the full pressure that managers feel. On the other hand, managers get some special perks, like: 2 BR apartments, $10K per year extra income and they work fewer hours each week. We'll decide that move if the option ever occurs.
Our plan is to leave here shortly after 7 AM and stop in Vista to pick up the truck. We will drive to Menifee and set up the rig and stay until about noon tomorrow. Then we leave Menifee to work Thursday afternoon starting at 3 PM, Friday, Saturday, and return Sunday morning. The fifth wheel will remain on the site until we leave Sunday night. It's always nice to start some free time.
Now, it's time to pack up, get ready to turn in the pager and our keys and head out. This ends our latest chapter at our temporary assignment at The Springs of El Cajon...
