I packed my suitcase - Josie had done hers before going to work - and loaded everything into the Escape that was ready to go. Josie got off work at 3 PM, came home and made some sandwiches along with packing up some last minute stuff and we hit the road by 3:45.
It started to rain as we headed out and we drove through rain almost the entire way to Kingman, AZ. At times, it was very heavy and it made for slow going in some stretches. It was our bad luck that we hit a Monsoon storm that was covering most of the state. We made very good time otherwise, and arrived in St George at 10 PM, but with the hour change in the time zone, it was 11 PM.
We stopped once for gas in Kingman and the car only took 7 gallons of gas for $23. We aren't used to traveling with such good economy and are happy with the mileage that the Escape is getting. We will gas up again before heading out this morning.
The only problem we experienced was a situation with the air conditioning that cut out occasionally after running for a long period of time. We can live with that until we get back home, but it is a mystery as the A/C will come on and run great again by just turning it off and back on. Go figure.
We expect to leave St George by 8 AM and hope to arrive in Jackson sometime around 6 or 7 tonight. It looks like a nice day this morning, so here's hoping for a smooth trip today...
