Josie went into the office yesterday morning to talk to Mary, the manager, about our plans to leave. She was very surprised (naturally) and disappointed that we are leaving. She told her that both of us were super employees and will be missed, and to consider returning in the future. She certainly understood that we will be making double the money, and she was sorry that they couldn't schedule us for more hours while we were here. As indicated in yesterday's post, we wanted to leave on good terms and not burn the bridge. We accomplished that goal.
I told my supervisor, Bruce, right after Josie informed the manager. I work under Bruce who is in charge of all Hosting and Security at the park. He also was sad that we are leaving and wanted more information on the Amazon opportunities for his own benefit. He has been working over 40 hours per week and they will only pay him for a maximum of 40 hours each week. They wonder why they can't keep people on staff? I understand from Bruce that 3 couples have left the sister park at Bethpage already this year. It's too bad that they aren't more employee friendly, as these are fabulous parks.
Along with the notice that was given yesterday, we experienced a problem with the Jeep battery - here we go. I cleaned the terminals and removed all the corrosion, and then the car wouldn't start. I jumped it from the truck and we drove it into town to see if maybe the corrosion was preventing it from charging. We'll know this morning. We will probably end up replacing the battery today, which is one of the things we knew would be going soon.
Our plans are getting closer to being finalized. We will stay at the Thousand Trails park until Friday, June 24, and will stay in Clifton Forge, VA that night (Near WV). We will take our time to Campbellsville and stay another night somewhere (on the 25th) just inside of KY before arriving at our destination on Sunday the 26th. Our plan includes visits to the Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown areas while at the TT park next week. The excitement is building for our next adventure...
