Travel to Fort Stockton TX

It was another great day weather wise and we had another smooth travel day to Stockton, TX. It was 8 AM when we left Deming and we gassed up just down the road from the RV park before getting onto I-10. I averaged 10.4 mpg for the day vs 9.3 mpg on our first travel day. It definitely made a difference driving in less traffic and also traveling on the east side of the Continental Divide where the travel is on the down-hill side. We again made one stop in a rest area:

and traveled the 340 miles in about six hours including stops. Also, we lost an hour when we crossed into the Central Time Zone. That also includes a second gas stop as we decided to gas up yesterday for our travel day today.

The RV park in Fort Stockton is a forgettable one. When you stop at a bargain basement park, that's what you get:

That's all we need for one night - full hookups and a pull through space for $12. We'll be gone by 8 AM again this morning, so it is no big deal.

We will stop along the way as we get closer to Boerne, TX - our destination for today - to call Roger and Sue to let them know the time we expect to arrive at our park in Boerne. They will drive from their location to meet us and we will go somewhere to have an early dinner and chat. We are looking forward to seeing them again...
