Getting Closer

Yesterday, we got a lot closer to being ready to go. I did outdoor work before the forecasted bad weather this weekend. I cleaned the large grill and prepared it for storage, packed away the lounge chairs, loaded the truck with more storage boxes and basically got everything ready for the trip to storage today. Meanwhile, Josie did a lot of closet prep by sorting pantry items and other closet items into plastic containers, disposing of expired goods and then scrubbed down the interior of the fifth wheel.

Once again there are strange and very unusual weather patterns in the country. Yesterday, several high temperature records were broken in the northeastern states, and today those same areas are getting a huge winter snowstorm. Philadelphia, for example, set a record of 66 degrees yesterday and they already have several inches of snow on the ground this morning with temperatures hovering around freezing. Fortunately, where we are going in Texas there is hardly ever any snow. The all-time record snowfall in Port Lavaca is 12 " in February, 1895. The modern record is 5.2" in December, 2004.

As mentioned, we are headed to our storage unit today. We will combine that trip with a visit to the eye care facility to pick up our records to be taken to Texas with us and another stop for a haircut. We are definitely getting close to being ready to go...
