Meeting Old Friends

The highlight of our day was meeting up with Karen and George, old friends that we first met in Cody and have remained in contact with since our season spent working with them. They came to the lobby of the lodge at 11 AM and we led them back to our fifth wheel to begin our three plus hour visit before we had to go to work. We took a drive to the Mormon Row barns which they had not yet seen, and it was a perfect day to see the Tetons, bison in the area and the famous old barns.

We spotted the first of many bison just before arriving at the barns:

The Balsamroot flowers are just about in full bloom now and made for a very colorful shot. As we arrived at the barns, we saw another large herd of bison that were in the field to the side of the barns location:

Karen and George were almost overwhelmed by the views of the mountains, bison and of the barns. We took this shot of them while at the barns and with the herd of bison in the background:

The barns looked great, as always:

We then went to a restaurant in town at the base of the Sno-King ski slope called The Lift. It was a first time visit for us and the meal was terrific. Josie, Karen and George all had a Buffalo Burger, and I had a nice salad. We followed the meal with a visit to DQ for an ice cream dessert.

The visit ended at about 2:30 which gave us a chance to get ready for work in time for our 3 PM start. Our plan is to return the visit to Cody when their schedule allows us to have the same days off. Right now, they work a schedule of 4 days on, and 2 days off. Eventually, the two days off will coincide with our fixed days off of Thursday and Friday.

Josie and I worked solo last night and had an uneventful shift. We really enjoy working the shift alone and feel as though we can handle the front desk in most any situation. Today there is a mandatory meeting scheduled with all the front desk personnel at 2:15 PM before we start work. It will most likely just be a review of procedures and any new events or activities that we should be aware of. We then work our "Thursday" of this week with Jill...
