The annual classic auto show called the Jackson Hole Rendezvous was in full swing yesterday. This is the 38th year that the rally has been held at the lodge, and some of the folks have been coming here for at least 30 of those years. It is a loud, busy and friendly gathering that makes it tough on the regular guests who don't know anything about it, or just happen to catch the festivities while staying here. You can see what I mean about the activity level in this shot below:
Our courtyard was totally consumed by the cars and our lobby had a constant flow of people traffic. Most of the people ask where the rest rooms are located as they aren't off of the lobby, but in another part of the complex between the lobby and the bar. We also get the regular questions regarding restaurants and cabs to take to town. The show wraps up today with an awards session and check-out by 11 AM. The front desk will be hopping this morning.
We will get back to normal this afternoon and the rally will be done until the same time next year. It kind of kicks off the regular season and is the start of booked, or nearly booked, evenings at the front desk. We welcome the increase in business activity as it has been, with just a couple exceptions, pretty dull at the front desk so far.
There is a chance we will be getting a visit from some old friends of ours from Cody - Karen and George Foster - whom we worked with about 5 years ago. They have returned to work at the Buffalo Bill Village there and are planning a trip to Jackson in the next day or two. We met them in Texas for a lunch while traveling from the east coast to CA three years ago, but haven't seen them since. It will be nice to visit with them again to catch up on old times...
