Start of Final Month

Our first day of the final month was a fun day that went very fast. We enjoy the weekends and working with Donna because there are no managers around and it is a more relaxed environment. Our management team is very likable and we do enjoy them, but we enjoy the freedom of working alone. With only 4 weeks to go, we are looking more closely at our winter plans.

Donna managed a 5 star resort - the Zion River Resort - in Virgin, UT for 12 years before moving to this area and she has made reservations for us at that resort for 3 days in early October. It is very close to Zion National Park and we can also visit Bryce Canyon National Park from that location. Her daughter is now employed at that park and she had her make our reservations at a very attractive rate. We look forward to that visit, for sure.

It looks like we will take advantage of an offer to stay in Happy Trails in Surprise for a few months over the winter. That would be in the space that was mentioned previously and is the one that Carole and Dick owned before Dick passed away. The folks on the lot next to it - the one we stayed on for almost a year - purchased it from Carole. We just have to line up some work that will keep us there for that time. The rate is very attractive so we don't need to make too much in order to justify the space. We have some irons in the fire for that, so - hopefully, we can find something that works for us.

Our plan is to return here next summer and spend more time looking at areas that are very appealing for possible long term use. Our thinking now is to eventually locate something here for the summer months - or possibly somewhere in the Northwestern WA area (Mt Vernon, La Conner?) which has always appealed to us. It's nice to be mobile enough to fully enjoy and evaluate these areas. It is also nice that we have the time to be able to do a thorough search for where we will spend some of our later years. Ideally, we will be in the north for summers and in the south for the winters. It's a worthy goal to shoot for...
