Ho Hum Day

There's not a lot to say about yesterday. It was a ho hum day. Normal work day and usual afternoon at home. The work days are pretty long now that the activity has dropped. We are beginning to get hitch-itch if you know what I mean. We love our jobs and the people we work with but we are getting anxious to move on to our next adventure. We've heard from several workamping couples that a 4-5 month stay can get this way towards the end. The problem for us right now though is that we don't yet have a new destination to be excited about. We can see that many more places are beginning to advertise for winter help and that is a good sign. So far, most places have been advertising for help to get them through the remaining summer season. Many places have lost some their help through early departures of some of their staff. It would be hard, at least for us, to take a job for just one month in order to finish a season and then have to move on. Most of those places that are advertising close for the winter season so why bother?

Our schedule today calls for a short trip to Payson to do some small errands and grocery shopping. We will probably stop at the casino to try their buffet at lunch time. You may remember that the last time we went we missed the buffet because it was for lunch and not dinner. We hope to get it right this time. Of course, we may put a few coins in the slots while we're there. I don't think it's possible to get Josie from the car to the restaurant in the casino without stopping at the machines. She would have to be blindfolded.

We still have not received the packaging from HP for the return of the laptop. We hope it comes sometime today since we need to get that process started before it begins to conflict with our departure from here. It's nice to have a couple days off now...

A Normal Day

There were no helicopters or emergencies yesterday so the day was considered normal. Josie spent part of the day cleaning cabins and the rest at the lodge doing normal activities like stocking shelves in the store, dusting areas and performing front desk duties. Bob did his normal duties at the front desk, dispensing propane, stocking the ice freezer and other computer related stuff. We again worked late - 9:45 PM - and had a few glitches while performing the closing duties. The lodge did a tremendous business yesterday with the groups in the resort. We had a slight problem balancing the till during closing but we eventually got through it.

The problem with the ATV's in the campground has been mentioned before. Finally, the manager went around to all the sites of the violators yesterday and reminded them that if the rules were not followed that they could be evicted. He probably got a little nervous after having two helicopters come in two days and didn't want to take a chance on another to airlift children out of here.

The weather is nice with a high of 82 and a low of 56 yesterday. We had just a couple sprinkles yesterday even though we heard about some heavy rainfall in the surrounding areas. The days almost always start clear with clouds building as the day progresses. The same as the Valley except we are always 25-30 degrees cooler.

We have our normal afternoon shift today and hope all stays normal...
