A Chores Day

Nearly the entire day yesterday was spent getting some of the dreaded shredding done. There are 5 boxes of documents left and I need to buckle down and get them done before we leave. I supplemented that activity by trying to locate where our W2's are from Holiday Retirement. I remembered that last year, shortly after we started working there, that the W2's were all sent to the Communities where the individuals worked or did work during the previous year. After playing a little phone tag, I finally spoke to someone at Corporate, and also someone at the Community, and our W2's are nowhere to be found. Corporate has indicated that they will reprint them and send them to our address here in Surprise. I will have to wait until we receive them to begin on our taxes. It's a good thing I started the search when I did.

I came across several interesting documents while going through the files. I found some old letters from the War Department that were sent to Nan regarding my father's burial location in Holland and several others that I will scan and share with the family. The problem I'm having with the shredding is that I need to read every document in some of the files and I don't want to destroy anything that has a relevance to something, or someone, we all care about.

Today starts my duty as a delivery driver at the shop where Josie has been working. We both need to be there at 7:30 to get things started, so I'll end this entry here and pick up again tomorrow...

Establishing a Routine

Yesterday was another good day for Josie at Out of Africa. The people think she is a quick learner and they are happy to have her there. There was a slight misunderstanding though of the store policy for employees. Josie saw a great vest that she wanted so she could stay warm in the admissions booth during the morning hours. She thought that the employee discount was 50%, but it actually is 15%. That sounds a lot like 50% and is probably the kind of misunderstanding I would have with my hearing problem. Anyway, instead of the vest costing her about $20, it would cost $35 so she put it back. Maybe some other time.

I have been taking her to work in the AM and picking her up at 5 PM. Since it's only 2 miles round trip, it's not a big deal. We would prefer to work together but right now it appears that Out of Africa doesn't need another worker. We are working on other options right now and may have a solution soon. Expect a "big" announcement in the next day or so.

Today is another work day for Josie and I have to try to make arrangements for our fifth wheel repairs that were pending from Happy Jack. The ice maker is to be replaced and the new water pump that was installed is as dead as the first one was. There has to be another problem with that pump that hasn't been diagnosed since we shouldn't have to replace a new pump so quickly.

The weather turned cold and windy yesterday and made us feel lucky that we are out of the high country now. We're sure they are having sub 20 degree temperatures and possibly some snow activity based on reports on the TV. It warms up pretty good here during the day - over 70 degrees every day. That's about it for today...
