Noah Who?

It was a busy day for us yesterday as it was the first time we were on duty all day - alone. There were about 6 guests that checked in and there were various chores we completed that made the day go faster. I performed the maintenance on the spa several times and Josie cleaned the rest rooms and the laundry room floor along with the other floors.

How many days did it take Noah to build his ark? We need to think about doing the same thing as we are up to 13 consecutive days of rain. It is really pouring outside as I do this entry. The winds continue to set records for us also. There hasn't been 1 day since we've arrived where the high gust for the day has been less than 12 MPH. Most days it is over 20 MPH. We did see in the long term forecast last night that there would be a couple cloudless and rain-free days for this coming weekend. Wow!

Today is our 2nd long day for the week and we will perform the same duties as yesterday except I get to deliver the newspapers to all the guests this morning. This place really is run like a hotel with the continental breakfasts and newspaper deliveries each day. It is a nice touch for a campground. We have gotten all rave reviews from customers that complete the surveys they get as part of their check-in package.

Have a great day and we'll be back here tomorrow...

Spoke Too Soon

Yesterday I mentioned that the sky was clear and blue while doing the blog entry and that the forecast was for nice weather. The forecast is still for nice weather, but beginning today. The clouds rolled in around 10 AM and by noon it was raining once again. We finished the day with .94" of rain - one of the heaviest days of rain we've had. So far, we have had 6 days with no precipitation in February. That's OK as long as it clears up in time for our days off beginning Monday. It is again clear this morning.

The upgrade on the computers in the office was mentioned yesterday and I spent almost the entire day trying to get my software working again the way it did before the upgrade. I'm still not there yet. Josie was busy for a change checking in people and doing things to assist them in getting settled into their spaces. There were 12 rigs that checked in. The day was busy for both of us which made the time go faster.

We skipped the hot dog roast last night because I have been catching a cold the last 2 days and was not feeling all that well. I just wanted to come home and crash on the recliner, which I did. I will probably get the camera out today to take pictures of the people in camp so they can have something to take away with them. That was very popular with the last group we had in the park. Just 2 more days till play time...

Rain Keeps Coming

After not having any rain at all for the first 17 days in January, we've had 2.12" through yesterday. Already today, we are at .35" and today is suppose to be the wettest of the last 4 days. It's very unusual for so many storms to be coming through here at one time. In between storms, we have some pretty strong winds. The highest gust that we recorded yesterday was only 16 MPH, but our weather station is a little shielded by neighboring RV's so it's not a true reading of the wind. There is also lots of snow in the mountains.

It's difficult doing any maintenance as a result of the rain. There are complaints from people in the low areas of the park about the flooding in their sites. There is nothing that can be done about that since there is no place to drain the water. This is just a freak, stormy period, and they are the unfortunate ones to be in the low sites. There will be more of the same today, so I'm not sure how long I'll be working. Josie has already finished her schedule for the week.

The free time today will be used to begin preparation for our trip north. Josie will do her normal "girl" stuff this morning - nails, pedicure, hair, etc. We need to go to Costco to stock up on some non food items like trash bags and paper products. We're not sure at this point when we will see another Costco. There is a Walmart in Sonora that is being upgraded to a super store so that will probably be our best bet for those kinds of purchases while up north.

The timing for the rain is also bad for the golf tournament that started this week -The Bob Hope Classic. We have planned to go on Saturday, but may stay home if the rain continues. The forecast for Saturday is nice so we are hoping to go. That's about it for now...
