Boy, it didn't take long for the schedule to change.
Instead of arriving at Happy Jack Lodge on June 1, we now will arrive on May 14. It turns out that Josie gave her notice at work sooner than planned as a result of her shop planning changes in their organization that involved a different role for her. She called me from work on Tuesday and said "Hey, I have to tell them now that I'm planning to leave because they want to give me added responsibilities". So, I contacted our future boss at Happy Jack and she was happy to hear that we could arrive early.
Now, we have to really scramble to get everything together for an early departure from here (Happy Trails in Surprise). One of the reasons we accepted the Happy Jack job was that it was close enough for us to return on off days, if necessary, to wind up last minute things here - such as our storage area and emptying the shed on this property.
Josie has a busy schedule between now and the 14th as she is in the middle of the Mother's Day preparation at her shop. As you know, flower shops get crazy during the Mother's Day weekend.
Bob had a tough day today - he played golf with his brother, George, and a close family friend, Carl. He will only have one more golf day before he leaves. He tried to play once a week during the summer and into fall before the greens fees were increased during the winter for the snowbirds. He just started playing again and now he is leaving. We understand that there are no golf courses near Happy Jack. Oh, well.
The pictures are of the Happy Jack Lodge that we took on our visit there in mid April.

About Us - Bob & Josie
Well, here goes.......
We are just now beginning our retirement travels after living in our 2008 Doubletree Mobile Suites 5th wheel for about 9 months. Our retirement had been delayed as a result of Josie having to work in order to keep her health insurance. Bob is now on Medicare, so that his health insurance premium costs were not a problem. However, the downturn in the economy has caused Josie to accept a position at another company making a little more than half of her previous salary. We decided that by workamping, we can begin our travels now and obtain workamping positions that pay a good salary for both of us to work- and clear more than enough to pay her insurance premiums. We actually can show a much better cash flow by getting our site free with all hookups and getting the salary on top of that. PLUS, we get to stay in beautiful locations with enough free time to enjoy them.
Bob has retired from a long career in computer sales and management and real estate sales.
Josie is leaving her floral design and management career of over 22 years.
We have no pets, but have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren - scattered across the country.
Stay with us as we begin our travels to see this beautiful country.
We are starting our first workamping opportunity on June 1, 2009, at the Happy Jack Lodge in Happy Jack, AZ. Our plan now is to be there through November. We will update our activities between now and June 1 on an uncheduled basis.
